Campo Viejo's dedication to Rioja winemaking (it's been around since 1959), alongside the most advanced winemaking techniques available, allows them to create modern twists on traditional methods, delivering progressive styles of Rioja that satisfy today's discerning modern palates and perfect for sharing with friends. Campo Viejo has a long and proud history that takes us back to the Roman Empire. However, it has been over the past half century when our name has become synonymous with Rioja wines. From our first vintage - brewed in the former Ortigüela winery in 1959, to the creation of the famous 'Rioja Bottle' in '61 and the unveiling of our state-of-the-art sustainable winery in 2001, we have been at the forefront of Rioja winemaking.

The old Campo Viejo wine cellar, founded in 1967, has given way to the Juan Alcorta Bodega, named after its founder. Located in Logroño, on the old road to Fuenmayor, the bodega is built on a plateau planted with vines and has panoramic views of the Ebro Valley and the Sierra de Cantabria mountains.

Ruby-red colour with a golden rim, deep and bright. A complex nose. There is a good balance between the ripe fruit aromas of cherries, black plums and juicy blackberries and the spicy nuances extracted from the oak during ageing with hints of clove, pepper, vanilla and coconut. This nose is heightened by the aromas which develop during the time spent in the bottle. On the palate it is a smooth, full, elegant, balanced wine with a long finish.

Delicious with red meat, game, grills, mature and blue cheeses.
